Current and former riders expected to give evidence as Robbie Dunne case resumes

Jockeys past and present are thought likely to give evidence during the second week of Robbie Dunne's hearing in front of the BHA judicial panel, which resumes on Tuesday morning.

Over three days last week the BHA presented its case against Dunne, who is also expected to answer questions as he responds to charges of prejudicial conduct and violent and threatening behaviour against fellow rider Bryony Frost.

Dunne denies all charges of prejudicial conduct and two of the three of threatening behaviour.

Four-time champion jockey Richard Johnson is among those it has been suggested might be called by Dunne's team, whose barrister, Roderick Moore, has already questioned Frost and Chris Watts, the former BHA head of integrity assurance who conducted the regulator's investigation into Dunne's behaviour.

When presenting the BHA's case on Tuesday, barrister Louis Weston claimed Dunne, 36, had made threats to harm Frost physically and verbally abused the 26-year-old, including by calling her a "f****** whore" and a "dangerous c***".

Frost, who on Saturday sparked jubilant scenes at Sandown when winning the Betfair Tingle Creek Chase for boss Paul Nicholls aboard Greaneteen, gave evidence on Wednesday, when alleging Dunne had "promised" to hurt her after they rode against each other at Southwell in September 2020. She also commented on being shunned by her weighing-room colleagues, saying: "The isolation I felt for speaking out I wouldn't wish on anyone."

On Thursday Moore raised a number of concerns about the way in which Watts had carried out his investigation, while evidence was given by an anonymous Stratford fence attendant who reported having witnessed Dunne hurl a volley of abuse at Frost that was "out of the ordinary" and included the words "f****** s***."

It is unclear whether the panel – made up of chair Brian Barker, James O'Mahony and Alison Royston – will announce an outcome at the end of this week's three scheduled days or defer judgement to a later date.
