Monday

There are four meetings in Britain to kick off the week – at Lingfield, Stratford, Pontefract and Wolverhampton – but Tipperary has the pick of the action with the Group 3 Coolmore U S Navy Flag Concorde Stakes (3.35).

Pretreville, making his first start for Abbaye-winning trainer Ado McGuinness, is the highest rated, while Carrytheone is feared having won impressively last time.

Tuesday

Birchdale was once a promising novice prospect for Nicky Henderson and is now with Enda Bolger. He is among the entries for an intriguing 2m2½f beginners chase (3.30) at Galway.

Henderson, however, will be more focused on Huntingdon, where exciting juvenile hurdler Impulsive One is out to build on his 12-length Plumpton win (1.55).

Later on the card, all eyes will be on the beautifully bred Toucan Sam (5.50), a son of Frankel and a half-brother to Group 1 winner Ridasiyna.

There is also action from Brighton, Leicester and Kempton.

Wednesday

Ludlow stages its first meeting of the season with the £17,500 3m handicap chase (2.05) the main attraction. Pink Eyed Pedro could seek a change of luck, having been second on his last three starts.

Adayar broke his maiden at Nottingham and Charlie Appleby's runner Goldspur looks another exciting type. The Sandown winner could bid to make it two from two in the British EBF Oath Novice Stakes (3.05).

The rest of Wednesday's racing comes from Navan, Sedgefield and Kempton.

Thursday

It's another seasonal curtain-raiser as Exeter open its doors with a six-race card, but Worcester could be the place to keep an eye on with useful bumper type I Like To Move It among the entries. He was last seen finishing down the field in the Champion Bumper.

Thurles, Ayr and Chelmsford are also in action.

Friday

It's a day of quality in both codes, but Newmarket hosts the main pick with Group 1 action to look forward to in the bet365 Fillies' Mile (3.35).

Inspiral has looked a star in the making and is likely to go off the hot favourite. Wild Beauty and Mise En Scene could be among the opposition, while Prix Marcel Boussac absentee Raclette may be supplemented.

Other races to watch at Newmarket are the Cornwallis Stakes (1.50) and Oh So Sharp Stakes (2.25).

Over jumps, Chepstow's two-day Persian War meeting is typically seen as the starting point of the core season and the entries will not disappoint.

Paul Nicholls is synonymous with this meeting and has talented pair
Dargiannini and Paso Doble in the entries for the Unibet Persian War Novices' Hurdle (2.45), while Luttrell Lad, First Street and Tamar Bridge are also interesting.

Threeunderthrufive, Ask Dillon and Honest Vic are among the names in the 2m7½f novice chase (1.35), while expect to be reacquainted with plenty of old friends in the 3m veterans chase (2.10).

York and Newcastle also stage action, with the former having two races on ITV4.

Saturday

Once again all eyes are on the top two-year-olds at Newmarket, this time with the boys in the Dewhurst Stakes (2.55).

Native Trail has emerged as the leading talent in the division following his stylish National Stakes success and Bayside Boy and Luxembourg are among his potential challengers.

Elsewhere, the Cesarewitch (3.35) looks another tricky punting puzzle and there are three Group 3s on the rest of the card.

Chepstow's meeting is sure to reveal plenty of clues for the season ahead – particularly the Listed novice chase – while there is racing to look forward to from Hexham, York and Chelmsford.

Sunday

It's a busy day in Ireland with the Ladbrokes Munster National (4.30) taking place at Limerick and the Curragh staging the Irish Cesarewitch (3.05).

Joe Tizzard told the Racing Post he planned to run the highly touted The Big Breakaway at Newton Abbot and he will likely prove the main talking point of the seven-race card in Devon. There's also action at Goodwood to finish the week.
