Watering will take place before the final day of Royal Ascot, although the weather is not expected to be as hot on Saturday.

Jockeys again reported conditions to be quick on Friday – the official description was good to firm – and clerk of the course Chris Stickels was set to put 7mm of water on the straight course and 5mm on the round course.

The temperature gauge was above 30C on a scorching Friday but a high of 25C is forecast on Saturday, with no rain predicted until after racing.

For only the second time in the meeting's history, racegoers were permitted to remove jackets, ties and hats in all enclosures on Friday after the heatwave prompted a relaxation of the official dress code. However, Ascot has confirmed the dress code will be back in place on Saturday.

A crowd of 61,471 watched Inspiral and Frankie Dettori win Friday's feature Coronation Stakes and those attending the final day of the royal meeting will again be treated to seven races, the highlight of which is the ultra-competitive Platinum Jubilee Stakes (4.20).

Last season's Irish Derby and St Leger winner Hurricane Lane is set to make his return in the Hardwicke Stakes (3.40) but the dry forecast is not positive news for high-class stayer Trueshan, who is in the concluding Queen Alexandra Stakes (6.10) but missed Thursday's Gold Cup on account of the fast ground.
