Godolphin's powerful team for the opening day of Royal Ascot was dealt a blow after the Coventry Stakes favourite Noble Style was ruled out of the race by trainer Charlie Appleby on Sunday.

The son of Kingman was the 3-1 favourite for the juvenile Group 2 following an impressive debut at the track in May, but will miss the meeting following a minor setback after his final piece of work on Saturday.

Appleby said: "Noble Style pleased in his work yesterday but he has since had some unsatisfactory blood results back. As a result, he will not run in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot."

Marble Hill Stakes winner Blackbeard and Brocklesby scorer Persian Force head the betting for the Coventry in Noble Style's absence, with both looking to maintain their unbeaten records following impressive starts to their careers.

Appleby will still have a dominant hand for Godolphin on day one of the royal meeting with 2,000 Guineas hero Coroebus lining up in the St James's Palace Stakes, while Man Of Promise and Lazuli are both set to run in the King's Stand Stakes.

"Royal Ascot is the Olympics of the equestrian field in Europe and I'm very much looking forward to sending my team there," the trainer added.

"Coroebus will be our star horse turning up on day one and his preparations have gone well. He did his final work on Saturday and all being well we'll be there on Tuesday."
