Andrea Atzeni is to miss his rides at Doncaster, including 16-1 Unibet Lincoln shot Ascension, after being informed of a positive test for coronavirus from a flight he was on.

The jockey rode in Bahrain a fortnight ago and returned last Friday, but he received a text on Friday night confirming there was a positive case of the virus from a passenger on the same flight. This means he is required to isolate.

He misses five rides on the day, meaning Callum Shepherd will take the ride in the day's feature at 3.10, while Atzeni is replaced by Kevin Stott on Juan Elcano (2.00) and Emaraaty Ana (3.45), while PJ McDonald steps in on Artistic Rifles, third favourite in the Spring Mile (2.35). Adam Kirby picks up his other ride on Line Of Descent (4.20).

Atzeni said: "Unfortunately I can't ride today. I got a text last night from the NHS saying that someone tested positive on my flight coming back from Bahrain eight days previously. So everyone has to isolate for ten days, from that day.

"It came at 5pm and we tried to do something with Dr Jerry Hill and the BHA but I can't ride. I'm waiting to hear whether I'll be able to ride tomorrow. I'd rather be at Doncaster but I'll be watching the racing – it is what it is, I can't help it."
