Did well in the circumstances
Sunglasses
First, Chelmsford, August 25
Only just got up to make a winning debut but deserves a lot of credit as she looked green early and had to come from well back in a steadily run race.
Proverb
Second, Windsor, August 27
A €32,000 breeze-up purchase out of a 6f two-year-old winner is the one to take from the race. Dropped in from the outside stall, he ran green early but once switched to the stands' rail picked up nicely and finished his race off well. Improvement can be expected.
Grand Scheme
Fourth, Goodwood, August 27
Likely would have played a big part in the finish but for completely blowing the start. He stayed on late to just miss third and remains capable as a stayer on a soft surface.

Eyecatcher
Punters Poet
Second, Navan, August 25
Took a while to pick up when the gallop increased but finished well having been left with a lot to do.
My Little Queens
Fifth, Newcastle, August 25
Could never really be asked for a full effort after running into traffic for much of the straight. She shaped better than her finishing position and can be given another chance.
Ran a sound race on his handicap debut. A big, scopey sort, he was keen early and ran green when first asked for an effort, but he finished to good effect and in time can prove a fair bit better than this.
A son of Churchill and a close relation of good Listed winner Brother Bear, this is another with a considerable future. He was a bit green in the preliminaries and was carrying a little bit of condition. In the race itself, he was slow to break and showed inexperience, but he ran on really well once meeting the rising ground inside the last. He looks certain to improve plenty for this.
Expressionless
Ninth, Newmarket, August 27
Faced a huge task on his debut and his cause was not helped by a tardy start. However, he got the hang of things late on and finished strongly. He ran past beaten horses so may have been slightly flattered, but he is certainly worth keeping an eye on.

A 105,000gns yearling out of a 7f-1m winner (including at Listed level), this Showcasing colt made an encouraging debut. Slowly away, he was green through the race but made up ground easily and gave the winner a fright in the closing stages. He will know more next time and should have little difficulty winning a novice.
Knew her job and, having always been up there, proved most professional when asked to go and win her race. She is a half-sister to an 1m½f AW two-year-old winner, but is out of a 1m4f winner by a Derby winner, so the fact that she could make a successful debut over just 6f bodes well.
Sirona
First, Beverley, August 28
A €52,000 yearling, out of a 1m2½f Group 3 winner in France, this Soldier Hollow filly created quite a big impression on this racecourse debut, running green in the closing stages yet not requiring a hard time to pull clear of rivals with form before pouring it on at the line. This was particularly promising considering she's bred for further on both sides, and she might turn out smart.
