Sir Michael Stoute's Khairaat has been installed 14-1 joint market leader with Big Country for the Betfred Cambridgeshire at Newmarket on September 30.

The pair head 134 entries for the traditional first leg of the autumn double, which also includes last year’s winner Spark Plug.

Spark Plug, who has won at Listed level and been Group-placed since his triumph 11 months ago, may renew rivalry with last year's runner-up, Carry On Deryck, while Master The World, second in 2015, and Bronze Angel, successful in both 2014 and 2012, are also among the entries.

Two-time winner Luca Cumani looks to have strong hand with four entries including the useful older pair Banksea and El Vip.

He said: "I've given Banksea a break since Ascot but expect to have him back on a racecourse in the first or second week in September, after which a decision will be made about the Cambridgeshire.

"He needs to be fresh to be at his best. I've been happy with the quality of El Vip's recent work, he couldn't be in better form, and he runs at York this week. Both he and Banksea would be ideally suited by fast ground."

Sir Mark Prescott's Flymetothestars and Coeur De Lion, trained by Alan King, have been installed as 14-1 joint-favourites for the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket on October 14.
