John Smith's winner Master Carpenter retired for prospective stallion career
Master Carpenter, whose victories include the 2015 John Smith's Cup and a Group 3 in France for trainer Rod Millman, has been retired from racing and may start a new career as a stallion.
An early two-year-old, Master Carpenter won on his debut at Leicester in April 2013 and provided a winner for his sire Mastercraftsman with his first runner.
Master Carpenter improved at both three, winning the Listed Heron Stakes and Prix Daphnis and four, when he took the John Smith's Cup at York off a mark of 104.
He held his form without winning at five, then picked up a couple of wins in his last two seasons, with his final victory coming at Goodwood on his penultimate start, off 85.
Millman, who handled the seven-year-old throughout his career, said: "It has been an absolute pleasure to train him for his owners David Little and The Links Partnership, who have been fantastic supporters of the yard, and Cheveley Park Stud who bought into him as a younger horse.
"We would also like to thank Sue Davey, who has looked after and ridden him at home for all six seasons, as well as the rest of our wonderful team who have kept him at the top of his game for so long."

"Having won in the April of his two-year-old career, peaked as a four-year-old and stayed sound enough to race for six consecutive seasons, he has the credentials to put many current stallions to shame."
