ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the 20 races on ITV4 on Saturday
ITV will be broadcasting a bumper 20 live races on Saturday, with 11 afternoon races bolstered by nine Breeders' Cup later in the evening.
12.40 Wincanton
Richard Barber Memorial Mares' Handicap Hurdle, 2m5½f
Three course-and-distance winners in opposition, including Rose Of Arcadia who bolted up when backed off the boards under Freddie Gingell at Chepstow last month. Gingell, who can claim a valuable 10lb, switches to the Paul Nicholls-trained Sabrina this time.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: ROSE OF ARCADIA
Looked on good terms with herself in winning well at Chepstow; major player
12.50 Doncaster
Download The BetGoodwin App Wentworth Stakes (Listed), 6f
Art Power has consistently come up short in Group 1 company this term, often when plagued by horror draws. However, he won nicely when dropped to a Group 3 at the Curragh in September and is the one they all have to beat in this Listed contest.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: TARHIB
Dashing 5f win on soft last time out; dual 6f winner previously; very interesting
1.01 Aintree
Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle, 3m½f
Rapid improver Johnson's Blue bids to extend his winning run to five, but the David Pipe-trained pair Gericault Roque and Remastered may have his measure first time out. The former is partnered by Tom Scudamore, arguably riding better than ever this term.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: MILAN BRIDGE
3-4 over hurdles; set to go chasing soon but could have unfinished business in this sphere
Boodles 'Rising Stars' Novices' Chase (Grade 2), 2m4f
High-class hurdler McFabulous makes his eagerly awaited chasing debut in a race trainer Paul Nicholls has won four times since 2013, including with Frodon in 2016. If McFabulous goes on to achieve only half as much as the magnificent Frodon has done, connections will be delighted.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: MCFABULOUS
The most talented in this field and should be an excellent prospect for novice chases
Betgoodwin New UK Betting Site Irish EBF Gillies Fillies' Stakes (Listed), 1m2f
Ralph Beckett has dominated this Listed event in recent years, and seeks a third straight success following the triumphs of Chamade (2020) and Vesela (2021). Both of those were returned at big odds, but Moon De Vega, seemingly his number one candidate this time, is likely to be well backed.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: MOON DE VEGA
Maiden success came on soft ground here last autumn; trainer has won this race four times
61st Badger Beer Handicap Chase, 3m1f
Ruled out at the last minute of defending his Ladbrokes Champion Chase crown owing to unsuitably soft ground, Ditcheat legend Frodon switches from a Down Royal Grade 1 to a fiercely contested and valuable handicap. He's got plenty of weight, but few would dare to argue he doesn't have sufficient class to overcome it.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: CAP DU NORD
Ran well when fourth in this last year and races off 3lb lower today; strongly considered
Boylesports Best Odds Guaranteed On Racing Grand Sefton Handicap Chase, 2m5f
A welcome early glimpse of the world-famous Grand National fences, with Broken Halo one of several likely candidates should he take to the track. Jacamar, another who still looks on a fair mark, enters the argument along with One True King, whose stable has enjoyed relentless success on the National course over the years.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: BROKEN HALO
Light on experience but with a top trainer and has potential off his current mark
2.32 Down Royal
Ladbrokes Champion Chase (Grade 1), 3m
Eyes down for an early-season cracker, with last year's runner-up Galvin, who subsequently beat A Plus Tard in Leopardstown's Grade 1 Savills Chase over Christmas, taken on by four smart sorts. Conflated is actually rated 2lb superior to the favourite, and could provide the principal threat.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: GALVIN
Second in this last year and solid return to action at Punchestown last month; hard to oppose
Boylesports Best Odds Guaranteed Day Before Hurdle, 2m4f
A good opportunity for Brewin'upastorm on paper, but the three-years younger Langer Dan seems sure to pose a huge threat. Dan Skelton's runner landed an ultra-competitive 2m4f handicap hurdle over this course and distance at the Grand National meeting, and has plenty more to offer this season.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: BREWIN'UPASTORM
Pulled up in C&D Grade 1 in April but wind op since; commanding win in this race last year
3.00 Wincanton
Unibet Elite Hurdle (Grade 2), 1m7f
Sceau Royal, Mr Versatility in that he is equally effective over hurdles and fences, bids for a fabulous fourth success in this Grade 2. He's the clear form pick, but it's possible he may finally meet his Wincanton match in Knappers Hill, a highly progressive six-year-old who is the subject of good reports.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: SCEAU ROYAL
Won very easily at Kempton and now bids for a fourth success in this; hard to beat
BetGoodwin November Handicap, 1m4f
Seemingly a wide-open running of the last big race of the Flat turf season, but team Gosden may have other ideas as Israr simply hacked up over the course and distance on similar ground a fortnight ago and looks just the right type for this 1m4f test. Irish raider Teed Up is an interesting contender off a low weight.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: ISRAR
Off 105 days before winning over C&D (heavy) two weeks ago in good style; raised 7lb
Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (Grade 1), 7f
Unbeaten runners always prove a source of fascination for punters, and favourite Goodnight Olive fits the bill. She landed a Grade 1 handicap in tremendous style last time out at Saratoga and bids to stretch her winning run to four. Obligatory, one of two William Mott representatives, also takes the eye.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: OBLIGATORY
Off-the-pace runner; 7f Grade 1 winner; should get a suitably strong pace to run into
Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (Grade 1), 5½f
Golden Pal has been beaten on both visits to Royal Ascot, but his record at Keeneland reads four wins from four starts. Highfield Princess, one of the biggest success stories of the 2022 British turf Flat season, has landed three Group 1s on the spin, including the Nunthorpe at York in imperious fashion.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: NAVAL CROWN
6f Group 1 winner at Royal Ascot this year and this test may suit him too
Big Ass Fans Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (Grade 1), 1m
Bill Mott's Cody's Wish heads the list here. He's won his last three starts, including a 7f Grade 1 at Saratoga when last seen in August. Gunite, who is also on a winning run, could be the main threat.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: SIMPLIFICATION
As good as ever when fourth in 1m1f Grade 1 Penn Derby at Parx latest, just behind Cyberknife
Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (Grade 1), 1m1½f
Most eyes from British-based armchairs will be focused on Nashwa, the mount of Hollie Doyle. The dual Group 1-winning filly was just found out near the finish by swamp-like conditions at Longchamp last time, but the market certainly expects her to go one better. Don't forget Tuesday beat her easily into third in the Oaks.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: IN ITALIAN
Front-running Grade 1 wins last 2 starts in 1m1f Diana at Saratoga and 1m First Lady here
Qatar Racing Breeders' Cup Sprint (Grade 1), 6f
The Wesley Ward-trained Kimari could prove a magnet for backers who don't want to take odds-on about Jackie's Warrior. The latter was put firmly in his place by Cody's Wish over 7f in a Saratoga Grade 1 last time out and, although likely to be suited by the drop back to 6f, still looks short enough for such a good race.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: JACKIE'S WARRIOR
Form figures in one-turn races read 111112111611112 including five 6f-1m Grade 1 wins
7.10 Keeneland
FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile presented by Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund (Grade 1), 1m
British challengers dominate the top of the market, with the Charlie Appleby-trained Modern Games and Ralph Beckett's resurgent Kinross viewed as likely to fight out the finish. Kinross arrives on the back of a fabulous four-timer, completed in the Group 1 British Champions Sprint at Ascot, and couldn't be in better heart.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: ANNAPOLIS
Has 5-7 record; wins gained in 1m-8.5f firm-ground races, most recently C&D Grade 1
Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (Grade 1), 1m1f
Todd Pletcher holds a strong hand with prolific-winning three-year-old Nest and the year-older Malathaat. Successful five times in 2022, Nest appears ideally suited by this intermediate trip and can justify market favouritism. Malathaat is seeking a hat-trick and couldn't have been more impressive at Keeneland last time out.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: CLAIRIERE
Fourth in this last year; Grade 1 and Grade 2 wins this year; played up in the gates latest
8.40 Keeneland
Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (Grade 1), 1m4f
Five runners from Britain and Ireland in this famous contest, headed by the William Buick-ridden Nations Pride, who looked tailor-made for the demands of this turf contest when romping home by over six lengths in a Grade 3 last time. Mishriff, the mount of Frankie Dettori, needs no introduction, and may be sharpened by blinkers.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: WAR LIKE GODDESS
9-12 record includes 2-2 over C&D and two Grade 1 wins elsewhere; sound claims
Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (Grade 1), 1m2f
The meeting ends with Flightline, unbeaten in five starts and the recipient of rave reviews after landing a Del Mar Grade 1 by an astonishing nineteen and a half lengths last time, out to confirm his lofty status in the world rankings. Epicenter is smart, but could be chasing shadowns if Flightline lives up to his reputation.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: FLIGHTLINE
Brilliant colt; 5-5, winning 7f-1m2f G1s on last three starts; stunning performance latest
