Aidan O'Brien holds the Derrinstown aces as Leopardstown reopens for action
The Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial is centre stage as racing returns at Leopardstown, with Aidan O'Brien looking to win the race for the 13th time.
O'Brien, twice a winner at Naas yesterday as racing resumed in Ireland following its longest ever hiatus, won the Derrinstown with Broome last year and is responsible for 60 per cent of the five-runner field this time around (2.00) with Russian Emperor, Iberia and Cormorant his strong contingent. Ger Lyons has declared Baby Zeus a non-runner in the Derrinstown.
Russian Emperor is the morning favourite at a general 6-4, with stablemate Iberia next best in the market at 11-4, but the Andrew Slattery-trained Sunchart has been supported against the O'Brien trio into 7-2 (from 5-1). He impressed when easily winning a Tipperary maiden in October in testing conditions.

However, the going at Leopardstown is set to be much quicker and is reported as good to firm, good in places for the first of two fixtures at the track this week.

Going improves at Haydock
Haydock's card is the only turf fixture of three in Britain today, with evening all-weather action coming from Chelmsford and Wolverhampton.
The going is good at Haydock with a latest GoingStick reading of 6.3 at the Merseyside track. There has been no rain at Haydock since the end of racing on Sunday.
Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright said: "It's a bit quicker than yesterday. We've had no rain since then and it's forecast to stay dry today. The runners have spread out over the two days and the track has taken the racing well."
