Zac Purton becomes just the second jockey to ride 1,000 winners in Hong Kong

Zac Purton was on Saturday celebrating a remarkable achievement after he became just the second jockey to ride 1,000 winners in Hong Kong.
Purton, the reigning champion jockey, brought up the landmark victory when Thanks Forever landed the 5f handicap at Sha Tin.
"It's a nice milestone," said Purton, whose tally places him behind only Douglas Whyte in the all-time standings.
Thanks Forever is trained by John Moore, who was delighted to play a role in bringing up the landmark success. Moore said: "Zac's one of the world's top jocks and to ride the 1,000th winner on one of mine was a great thrill for both myself and the stable."

Two-time champion jockey Purton has ridden 146 winners in Hong Kong this season and needs another 25 from the nine remaining meetings to surpass the record for a campaign, which is held by Joao Moreira.
Purton, who was born in Australia, has ridden in Hong Kong for 12 seasons. Whyte's record of 1,813 was compiled across 23 seasons.
