Nyaleti strolls to 1,000 Guineas success for Mark Johnston and Joe Fanning
Nyaleti ran out a comfortable winner of the German 1,000 Guineas at Dusseldorf to continue a run of British success in the Classic.
The Mark Johnston-trained filly, sent off 13-8 favourite in a field of 11, won by four and a quarter lengths under Joe Fanning in a local Group 2.
Assistant trainer Charlie Johnston said: “It was quite straightforward and Nyaleti was five lengths clear in the final furlong.
“We thought she was the best filly in the race, having won her Group 3 last year, and this was her big target for the first half of the season.
“It’s great for Chris Batterham, who has been a lucky owner for us and is not afraid to travel his horses.
“We weren’t sure what kind of trip she wanted and, after going back to seven furlongs in the Nell Gwyn, Joe said after her Listed win over a mile at Goodwood she didn’t want to go any shorter and it wouldn’t be a surprise if she gets further.
Relive Nyaleti's Listed win at Goodwood
“The Grade 1 Beverly D at Arlington on August 11 could be a target, as she is by American sire Arch.”
