Mark Johnston's quest for Classic success this weekend stretches to the continent, with Nyaleti representing Britain in the German 1,000 Guineas at Dusseldorf on Sunday.

The race has been fruitful for British trainers in recent years, with four successful raids in the past nine runnings. The last two renewals have gone to Hugo Palmer, with Hawksmoor and Unforgetable Filly.

Johnston, no stranger to success in Germany, has his sights on a second Classic there after Fox Hunt's win in the 2011 Deutsches St Leger.

Speaking on Saturday, Johnston said: "She's there and everything's going well."

Dusseldorf is a tight, right-handed track, and Johnston added of Nyaleti, who won a Listed race at Goodwood last time: "I'm not sure the sharp track is absolutely what she needs, but it certainly won't trouble her and I believe she has the best form in the race."

Watch Nyaleti's Goodwood win

Nyaleti, as last year's Princess Margaret winner, is the only one of the 11 runners to have a Group-race success to her name. Johnston's concern is the draw, with prominent racer Nyaleti due to break from stall nine under Joe Fanning.

"The draw will quite possibly be a problem. We'll have to see how it pans out from out there," he said.

The strongest competition could come from Angelita and Suada, the second and third from the Schwarzgold-Rennen, a Group 3 major German trial for the race. However, they were beaten seven lengths and 11 lengths by Butzje, which suggests they will have to step up markedly in this higher grade.

Malakeh, winner of a course-and-distance Listed race last time for former top jockey turned emerging trainer Henk Grewe, is another to note. Experience at Dusseldorf is generally seen as a strong positive, with the course being somewhat undulating as well as tight.
