Quality action: three to note on an intriguing card at Auteuil on Saturday
Auteuil plays host to a high-class nine-race card on Saturday, spearheaded by the Grade 2 Prix Murat (Chase). Mark Boylan highlights three runners to note away from the feature event.
Macaire holds key to classy Prix Go Ahead
The Listed Prix Go Ahead Hurdle (1.05) sees some exciting three-year-olds clash, with leading trainer Guillaume Macaire appearing to hold the key with his two runners Nimes and Yes Indeed.
James Reveley partners the former, who created a good impression when winning on debut at Compiegne in March, but his stablemate makes plenty of appeal here despite suffering defeat on his introduction at the same venue recently.
Yes Indeed finished second at the hands of a potential star in the shape of Quilixios, who has since been bought by Cheveley Park Stud and joined Gordon Elliott, and is a very early ante-post favourite for next year's Triumph Hurdle.
Yes Indeed finished 12 lengths adrift of that exciting rival but pulled 18 lengths clear of the third and is certainly open to improvement.
Dominque Bressou's Shawinigan also warrants respect, but the Macaire pair look set to come up trumps.
Raffles ready to step forward in Listed contest
There was plenty to like about how gutsy filly Raffles Sainte got off the mark on her second start at Compiegne in March and she looks set to double her tally in the Listed Prix le Guales de Mezaubran (12.35) on Saturday.
The Simon Munir and Isaac Souede-bred and owned four-year-old is by the same sire, Saint Des Saints, as their talented hurdler Fusil Raffles, and had the form of her latest outing boosted when runner-up Gitane Des Bordes was just touched off by an 11-10 favourite at the same venue earlier this week.
Expect Francois Nicolle's filly to improve for that experience and put up a big performance in an open-looking affair.
Deportetoi poised to collect valuable handicap prize
The Grande Course de Haies de Printemps (2.15), a Grade 3 handicap worth €105,000, has a tricky look to it but hat-trick seeking Deportetoi arrives here with confidence high and could prove the one to beat.
Another Simon Munir, Isaac Souede and Francois Nicolle performer, the improving six-year-old took advantage of On The Go's departure to score pretty impressively here in March and seems to have been assigned a perfect trip of 2m5½f.
Saturday's 20-runner affair will provide a different sort of test to the unexposed chaser but he shapes as though he should be well up to the challenge under Angelo Zuliani.
