Pretreville scores impressive Group 3 success on first start for Pascal Bary
Prix Bertrand du Breil Longines (Group 3) 4yo | 1m
Pretreville made light of a 238-day absence to register his most important success to date under Cristian Demuro, who did well in getting across from stall seven to grab the rail and the advantage.
A son of Acclamation, Pretreville looked to have plenty on his plate when Plumatic threw down a challenge half way up the straight, but found another gear to stretch clear for a three and a half length success, while Skalleti ran on to claim third.
Pretreville was nursed up the ladder by Jean-Claude Rouget last term, rounding off his campaign with a Listed win at Craon in September.
Owner Gerard Augustin-Normand elected to send him to Pascal Bary and the Chantilly trainer was quick to pay tribute to the work done by his colleague and rival.
"He is very good horse and was well looked after by Jean-Claude Rouget so when he came to me he was like a new horse," said Bary. "He was in magnificent condition and tried to maintain that. He gives everything in the mornings and on the racecourse and he is just a very good horse."
Bary continued: "He is a definitely a miler and he will go next to the Prix du Muguet."
A Group 3 winner when with Andre Fabre, Plumatic was also having his first start for a new trainer in Francis Graffard, who will have been pleased with the way that he cruised into contention before the winner set sail again.
