Raabihah and Magic Attitude both cut for Prix de Diane after trial wins

There were major movements in the ante-post market for the Group 1 Prix de Diane Longines on Thursday after Magic Attitude and Raabihah both staked their claims at Longchamp.

Coral were most impressed with Raabihah, who made it two wins from as many starts when easing to Listed success in the Prix de la Seine over half a furlong further than the Chantilly Classic will be run on July 5.

They make Sheikh Hamdan's daughter of Sea The Stars 6-1 joint favourite with her Jean-Claude Rouget-trained stablemate Simeen.

"The Prix de Diane will ultimately be the aim but I will definitely run her again in between in a race like the Prix Cleopatre or the Saint-Alary," said Rouget. "She was broken in Dubai and only came to me at the end of March last year, so I gave her plenty of time.

"But there is never any need to panic as the meeting at Cagnes offers opportunities. She is a classy filly and she showed it today. She was able to get a lead and I was pleased she didn't pull at all after the start."

The same firm introduced Magic Attitude at 12-1 for the Diane after she overcame well-regarded rivals with a powerful late run under Tony Piccone in the Group 3 Prix Vanteaux over 1m1f.

By Galileo and out of 2011 Nunthorpe winner Margot Did, Magic Attitude was allowed to go off at 191-10 but trainer Fabrice Chappet has long held her in some regard and was delighted to see her surge past odds-on favourite Emoji and Flighty Lady.

"She is a daughter of Galileo, so you would expect her to improve at three," said Chappet. "She still has a bit to learn but she showed a nice turn of foot there. She was green when she won well on debut and then she ran well when third in a Listed race against the colts.

"She has strengthened physically and mentally and is going the right way. She was ready to run a nice comeback today without being fully wound up."

More glory for Grand after layoff

Last season's Diane is not a race that originally appeared to work out all that well, but third-placed Grand Glory could yet boost its reputation on the evidence of a stylish return to action in the Listed Prix Zarkava.

The daughter of Olympic Glory circled her field for an easy success having been off the track since last June, a throat infection having prevented her from running in the Prix Vermeille.

"There's always a concern after an 11-month absence but she has been working well and has had three gallops on the turf," said trainer Gianluca Bietolini. "When I saw she was well covered up in behind and was able to breathe, I knew she would be able to show that acceleration of hers.

"I ride her myself from time to time and she is adorable. The Prix Corrida is the plan and she was only 80 per cent fit today."

Arapaho strikes for Fabre and Coolmore

Grand Glory's jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot followed up in the last Listed race of the day, the Prix du Pont Neuf, as Arapaho made a winning return to action over seven furlongs.

Arapaho has now recorded three wins from four career starts and was introduced at 12-1 by Paddy Power for the Poule d'Essai des Poulains.

"He did a nice piece of work before this and he is essentially done the same on the track there," said Boudot. "He is quite a handy horse who would probably get a little bit further, though he enjoyed having a strong pace to run at today."
