Pao Alto shines a light on Rouget runner

With the scramble to get high-class horses out this week, the big yards have not hesitated to cast their net wide across the country and there are plenty of familiar names with runners at Lyon-Parilly on Friday.

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Grey Mystere had no answer to Pao Alto in the Listed Grand Criterium de Bordeaux last October, but that form now looks strong after the winner bolted up in a Group 3 at Longchamp on Thursday.

Beaten four-and-a-half lengths that day, Grey Mystere must overcome an eight-month absence and, while she has the best form in the book, the Prix Pimpim (10.45) looks no penalty kick.

San Fabrizio will also be popular thanks to her form behind Victor Ludorum, though it will be interesting to view her in the flesh as she looked a big filly who would need time at two.

French Aseel looked an improved performer when bolting up over course and distance and is the only colt in the lineup. He could take another step forward, while Moscou finished off well to be third in the same race and should come on for the run.

Hellenistique on a hat-trick bid

In terms of the programme book, the Class 1 Prix des Poulains et Pouliches (12.15) is second only to the Listed feature on the Lyon Parilly card.

Hellenistique looks to continue his progress for Francis Graffard after scoring at Croise-Laroche and Angers last November, the latter in a race only one class below this.

A gelding operation seems to have been key to Hellenistique but on Racing Post Ratings he should have plenty on his plate to concede 4lb to Step By Step.

While a dead-heat at this track last October means the Andre Fabre-trained Lootah is also in search of a hat-trick coming back from a layoff.

Solow's brother seeks a first success

Undoubtedly the best-bred horse on the card is Salesman, whose siblings include multiple Group 1 winner Solow and the talented Lunch Lady.

Both of those horses thrived at a mile and it is clear that, as he lines up for the 1m3f the Prix Louis Saulnier (1.24), the son of Dubawi has not inherited the same speed.

There was some promise in Salesman's second placed effort at Compiegne on his seasonal return, a race in which the re-opposing Epic Hero was back in third, though Henri-Francois Devin's representative was making his first racecourse start that day and is entitled to improve.
