'I couldn't lift my foot' - stroke victim Aidan Macdonald aims to race again

Conditional jockey Aidan Macdonald revealed he hopes to return to race-riding as he spoke for the first time about the shock of suffering a stroke at the age of just 21.

He was rushed to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough in a critical condition after collapsing in Middleham in the spring. The 7lb claimer is now working on his fitness with a view to a return to riding for the first time since taking a heavy fall at Hexham in March.

Looking back on the incident that changed his life, Macdonald recalled: "It was a few days after the fall, I'd done a bit of work at Jack Berry House that morning and I felt fine afterwards.
