How Monday's Leicester action could impact the jockeys' championship in Britain
Oisin Murphy and William Buick's battle for the title race rumbles on with the gap remaining at ten following the weekend's action as Murphy bids to be crowned champion Flat jockey for third successive year.
Having been suspended on Thursday, Murphy returned with a bang with a terrific treble at Newbury on Friday to extend his lead in the race, but a winner apiece for Murphy and Buick at the Berkshire track on Saturday saw the gap stay as it is.
Murphy took advantage on Sunday with one winner at Hamilton while Buick missed the action through suspension.
Both jockeys have a strong book of rides at Leicester on Monday as the title duel enters a fresh week.
Oisin Murphy
Wins 134
Rides on Monday 5
Form in last 14 days Wins: 12 Rides 51 (24 per cent strike-rate)
The current champion jockey has been clocking up the miles recently and heads to the Midlands track following his rides at Hamilton on Sunday.
Murphy gets the ball rolling aboard the Andrew Balding-trained Build Me Up in the opening 6f fillies' nursery (1.00), while his other mount for the Kingsclere trainer is on Asamosa, who will attempt to get off the mark at the fourth time of asking in the mile fillies' handicap (2.00).
King Power's Mr Stanley is one of his best chances of the day in the 7f novice (1.30), having only been beaten by a neck on his debut at Brighton.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained Quiet Evening also filled that same position on her first start at Lingfield last December and makes her return in the 1m2f fillies' maiden (2.35).
William Buick
Wins 124
Rides on Monday 5
Form in last 14 days Wins: 16 Rides: 77 (21 per cent strike-rate)
Having been forced to watch from the sidelines on Sunday, Buick returns with five mounts of his own and all of his rides look to have respectable claims of helping him claw back the deficit on Murphy.
Buick kicks off his day on the Richard Hughes-trained Meydan Rose in the opening 6f fillies' nursery (1.00) before – like Murphy – taking up his strongest mount in the 7f novice (1.30) on Mythical Dancer, who won cosily on his debut at Thirsk this month.
David Menuisier teamed up with Buick with star filly Wonderful Tonight previously and they join forces again with Loving Kiss in the 1m2f fillies' maiden (2.35), while Evening Song (2.00) and Nomadic Empire (3.10) also look to have solid chances.
