Horses to keep an eye on at Kempton this evening
With the All-Weather Championships under way, the roadshow moves to Kempton this evening with eight races to look forward to. Here are three runners to keep an eye on.
It would seem Barig Al Thumama has been a little unlucky in his three starts to run into a horse of above-average ability on each occasion.
Beaten by one of the Queen’s horses on debut, he was then third behind the Group-placed Eqtidaar on his second start before claiming the runner-up spot behind Society Power on his all-weather debut last time.
Making his nursery debut at Kempton, the two-year-old colt seems feasibly weighted and should produce another good performance.
Siege Of Boston was made famous when his owner, Mark McKay, stopped off to see him run at Chelmsford on transfer deadline day, leaving his client Diafra Sakho to sit in the carpark as he waited to move clubs.
The four-year-old won that day and followed up at Kempton. He has been a non-runner twice since and competes off a mark 13lb higher than at Chelmsford.
Nevertheless, in the hands of shrewd trainer John Butler you could not rule out him progressing again.
Having shown mostly modest form, Lady Kaviar sprung up at 12-1 in a mile contest here last week and bids to follow up dropped in trip to 7f.
The quality of the opposition is low, so the biggest danger to her chances could well be the draw – she is widest of all in stall 14.
The filly holds an entry in the horses-in-training sale next week, and connections will be doubly keen she manages to get her head in front again.
