Jockey Club and AccessAble join forces to provide accessibility guides
The Jockey Club has become the first British sports organisation to team up with AccessAble and provide detailed accessibility guides for disabled people and carers on the facilites at its 15 courses.
Each Jockey Club track, including Aintree, Cheltenham, Epsom and Newmarket, has undergone thorough analysis by AccessAble. The guides provide detailed information on areas including car parking spaces, viewing ramps and bars and restaurants. They will be available via the Jockey Club and AccessAble websites.
Jockey Club chief executive Paul Fisher said: "We have posted information about access at our courses on our own websites for many years.
"But as society's needs change we have been listening to our racegoers who want more information before visiting our courses. We hope that, by partnering with AccessAble and making even more of this information so easy to find online, people will be able to make their own choices on the best areas of our venues to visit and book tickets for our racedays with confidence."
Sale of Tony Collins' art collection
The equine art collection of Tony Collins, the colourful and well-known former amateur jockey, trainer and owner is being sold at Cheffins auction house in Cambridge on Wednesday, November 28.
The collection, which forms part of a Fine Art sale, coincides with Collins' move from Scotland to Northamptonshire.
Luke Macdonald, Cheffins director, said: "There is a fine collection of works by artists such as Michael Lyne, Lionel Edwards and Peter Biegel, whose portrait of Saffron Tartan, the winner of the 1960 King George VI Chase and 1961 Cheltenham Gold Cup is one of the highlights."
In 1974 Collins, now 82, earned fame and notoriety from his involvement in the Gay Future case. A close friend of leading owner Robert Sangster, Collins had several horses named after him and was part-owner with Sangster of Commander Collins, winner of the 1998 Racing Post Trophy.
