Grand National-winning rider Fox taken to hospital after Kelso fall
Grand National-winning jockey Derek Fox was taken to hospital reportedly suffering from suspected concussion after he was involved in a heavy early fall aboard the Barry Murtagh-trained Justatenner at Kelso on Sunday afternoon.
Fox was having his first ride on the six-year-old, who was held up when coming down at the third flight in division one of Kelso's closing handicap hurdle. Uriah Heep was brought down in the same incident, though Fox had been thrown clear before that happened.
Taken to hospital
The field were waved around the flight on the next circuit and shortly afterwards Fox was taken in an ambulance to Borders General Hospital in Galashiels, where he was set to undergo tests on Sunday evening.
Fox, who rode One For Arthur to victory in the Grand National in April, has ridden three winners this season, two of them in the last fortnight for boss Lucinda Russell.
It had been revealed by Russell only on Thursday that One For Arthur would miss the season with a tendon injury in his right fore leg.
