Gowran Park's Red Mills day fixture has been cancelled due to waterlogging and talks are underway to reschedule Saturday's card for next week.

The likes of Anibale Fly and Annamix were poised to run in the feature Grade 2 Red Mills Chase, while Petit Mouchoir and Darasso were among the big names declared for the Grade 3 hurdle.

But the heavy rain, which had already forced Clonmel's Thursday card and this afternoon's meeting at Limerick off, proved too much and the track at Gowran Park is waterlogged.

Lingfield's card on Monday has also been cancelled this afternoon but it is hoped Saturday's Gowran Park card can be rearranged for next Friday.

Paddy Graffin, clerk of the course at Gowran Park, said this morning: "Unfortunately we've had to cancel the meeting due to the serious rain we had yesterday and last night.

"We had 14mm of rain up until a little while ago and it's continuing to rain with another 12mm or 13mm [forecast] up to 3pm today. We're completely waterlogged and the hurdles track is the same so we've no choice but to cancel."

He added: "We're quite hopeful that this Red Mils meeting will take place on February 26, so we're hoping that can happen for next Friday."

There is a more positive outlook for Ireland's only remaining jumps fixture this week at Navan on Sunday. The eight-race card features the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle, which will be shown on ITV4.

Graffin, speaking in a video posted by the IHRB, added: "That track is in particularly good nick. They haven't had the same rain at all. While we've had 30mm of rain down here in the south-east, the northern part of the country has had about half of that. There could be another 10mm between now and Sunday.

"We're using a completely fresh hurdles track and it's heavy, soft in places and the chase track is heavy."

In Britain, Lingfield's card on Monday was cancelled this afternoon due to waterlogging although there are no other inspections due to take place.
