Furtado filly out to keep Huddersfield's run going
With Huddersfield Town having stretched their lead in the Championship to four points with Saturday's 1-0 win over Yorkshire rivals Leeds United, this seems an opportune time for the debut of a filly who is owned by a syndicate of the club's fans.
Huddersfilly Town is the second horse to make the racecourse from Town fan Richard Ward's initiative to bring more football fans into racing, after Shelneverwalkalone made her debut at Pontefract in June. Both horses are in training with Ivan Furtado.
The Major Cadeaux filly is due to run in the 2.20 at Chelmsford on Sunday, with David Nolan aboard. She is the first foal of Mortitia, who missed out on black type by just three-quarters of a length in the 2010 Firth of Clyde Stakes and is herself a daughter of the tough and popular Alan Berry sprinter Simianna.
