Following the news of the passing of legendary owner-breeder Khalid Abdullah, we look back on the mighty Frankel – perhaps the greatest horse of all time – in an article first published in December 2019


It is hard to believe seven years have passed since Frankel was last seen on a racecourse, but in the same time he has barely been out of the news.

Frankel’s status as horse of the decade brooks no argument. He bestrode it like no other, opening with his majestic two-year-old season in 2010 and closing with his first British Classic winners in 2019. There was not a year in between when he did not make headlines.
