Red Verdon misses final Classic after disappointing Dunlop

Ed Dunlop was dealt a blow when he was forced to withdraw St Leger hope Red Verdon from the Classic field after the colt failed to satisfy the trainer on Wednesday morning.
Dunlop has previously admitted his struggles with Red Verdon – who had to bypass the Great Voltigeur at York last month – after finishing sixth in the Derby and then fourth in the Irish equivalent in June. The colt was an 8-1 chance for the Doncaster race.
