Harbour a substandard Classic winner but has a bright future
Harbour Law showed significant improvement to prevail in a dramatic Ladbrokes St Leger on Saturday, though a Racing Post Rating of 116 sits at the bottom end of expectations for a winner of the oldest Classic.
An already less-than-vintage renewal was rendered less competitive by the unshipping of Seamie Heffernan from favourite Idaho, and, despite pulling ten lengths clear of the rest, it's hard to be overly-positive about the form with less than a length between the first three home.
Harbour Law was reversing Bahrain Trophy form with Housesofparliament and was clearly well suited by a good test at the trip provided by the keen-going Muntahaa and Sword Fighter, who had also beaten Saturday's winner in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot, which further underlines the progress made by Harbour Law.
