Not since he saddled Motivator to win the Derby in June 2005 has Michael Bell sent out such a significant runner but the Newmarket trainer has faith in the ability of Big Orange to etch his name into racing folklore.

Bell may have won an Oaks and enjoyed international success with Wigmore Hall since that day at Epsom 11 years ago but ending Britain's hoodoo in Australia's most famous race would outrank all of those.

Despite the race's significance, Bell's response to questions about the historic importance of his Australian mission has been to make jokes in a bid to deflect any perception of pressure.
