Selfie time! All the stars want to get into Leopardstown shot
Saturday is the equine equivalent of that famous selfie which Bradley Cooper took at the Oscars in 2014. You know the one. Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep and Kevin Spacey all jostling for the best position in the shot. Remember it? I knew you would. Ellen DeGeneres tweeted it and it remains the most retweeted thing on Twitter.
Today all the middle distance stars of the Flat-screen want their heads in the shot at Leopardstown. The flash will go off at 6.45pm when 13 of the most talented thoroughbreds in Ireland, Britain and France enter the stalls for the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes. No air brushing will be needed.
It's the biggest field ever for the race – and what a brilliant bunch they are; the Derby and Oaks winners from Epsom colliding in their Classic season, the last two winners of the French Derby are here, as is the King George victor. The Eclipse winner has showed up and the first two home in the Prince of Wales's Stakes are also present. Nine Group 1 winners; five Classic winners; one hell of a horserace.
