Prendergast hopeful forecast rain can benefit Awtaad
6.10 Leopardstown
Clipper Logistics Boomerang Stakes (Group 2) | 1m, 3yo+ | RTE2/ATR
Awtaad, winner of the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas, represents Classic form in this Group 2 event in which the Kevin Prendergast-trained colt faces seven rivals including last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner, Hit It A Bomb.
Third in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot before running below expectations on unsuitably fast ground in the Sussex Stakes on his most recent start, Awtaad will be seeking a second Group victory.
A setback early in the year delayed Hit It A Bomb's return to action until last month when he finished third behind Tribal Beat, a rival again today, in the Group 3 Desmond Stakes over today's course and distance.
