In an absorbing edition of the Moyglare Stud Stakes, siblings Joseph and Donnacha O'Brien combined with Intricately to secure a first Group 1 success in their respective guises as trainer and jockey by dramatically foiling their father Aidan's Hydrangea on the nod.

With the Ballydoyle trainer's favourite Promise To Be True misfiring and stablemate Rhododendron taking third place, it was a disappointing outcome for him but he was understandably animated by the landmark feat of his sons.

Indeed, having bred Intricately with wife Anne Marie, the family patriarch had more than an emotional interest in her short-head victory.
