Awtaad set for Ascot after bouncing back in the Boomerang

Kevin Prendergast said Awtaad is the main reason he gets out of bed every morning after the Irish 2,000 Guineas winner bounced back to form to win the Group 2 Boomerang Stakes.

Awtaad has come at the perfect time for 84-year-old Prendergast who would have passed for 64 such was the smile that lit up his face after the apple of his eye cleared away from Custom Cut and Hit It A Bomb.

It was proof that a poor display in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood, when only eighth to The Gurkha, was just a blip and Prendergast has pencilled in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day at Ascot next.
