In 2004 Best Mate recorded an unforgettable third Gold Cup victory. Simon Holt was in prime position for the event as commentator for Channel 4

I'm never more keyed up or excited than before the Gold Cup and I did feel a lot of pressure that day, the anticipation was so great. It was tense and exciting; I did feel the weight of the occasion. It was similar with Frankel because his unbeaten record became such a momentous thing, so it was a bit like that.

It wasn't a particularly difficult race to commentate on in terms of number of runners but it was one of the biggest occasions I can remember at Cheltenham because of the significance of what Best Mate was trying to achieve.
