Alderbrook had already won the Champion Hurdle for Kim Bailey's yard and Master Oats, who had a training regime all his own, landed leg two of an astounding double when justifying favouritism in the Gold Cup, beating Dubacilla by 15 lengths with Norman Williamson in the saddle.

From the day he came to us, Master Oats burst blood vessels. He would all but burst when you put him on the walker. So Kim came up with this plan to double his work but halve the speed of it.
