Daphne Du Clos, who had been second favourite for the Weatherbys Champion Bumper, will miss the race, trainer Nicky Henderson said on Tuesday.

The four-year-old leaped out of the pack and to the head of affairs when running out an easy three and a quarter length winner of the same Newbury bumper on Betfair Hurdle day that Ballyandy claimed en route to festival glory last year.

"We've simply decided that she's not going to cope with it, and she'll sit still for a while now," explained Henderson. "We're going to run Claimantakinforgan in the race."

As a four-year-old and a filly Daphne Du Clos would have been in receipt of more a stone and consequently was no bigger than 8-1, and as short as 6-1 in a place, for the festival Grade 1.

'Debuhet has improved'

Favourite, at around 3-1, is Carter Mackay, ahead of Western Ryder (8-1), Someday, Cause Toujours and Ballyward (all 10-1), although Ballyward's participation is uncertain, Patrick Mullins said on Tuesday.

Debuchet is between a 10-1 and 14-1 chance, and will bid to record a special success for the mother and son duo of Mags and Danny Mullins.

The four-year-old pleased connections when working after racing at Leopardstown on Sunday.

Trainer Mags Mullins said: "Danny said he gave him a great feel at Leopardstown, so we said we'd listen to him - he's been riding long enough to know a good one! He looked very good when he won his bumper at Leopardstown and I think he's improved again."
