Plans for Sire De Grugy are on hold with the former champion chaser not working to his usual standard.

Trainer Gary Moore had been entered in a 2m handicap chase at Chepstow on Saturday which he won two years ago but was not declared.

"I did look at the Chepstow race but he hasn't been working as well as I would like him to be," said Moore. "Plans are on hold for the time being."

Sire De Grugy has not run since the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day where he unseated Jamie Moore after making an error at the second fence. He is engaged in two races at the festival, the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase and Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Challenge Cup.

Moore added: "He needs to up his game before we decide anything. He has always been a very good work horse and he is not working as well as we would like. Jamie knows him inside out and he is not happy with him."
