Oppenheimer hoping Cracksman gets the chance to show his full might

Anthony Oppenheimer is hoping Cracksman can sign off in style when he makes his final racecourse appearance in Saturday's Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot, where he will wear blinkers for the first time.

Having been 7-4 joint favourite a week ago, Cracksman's odds of a repeat victory in the race have steadily contracted as the likelihood of soft ground turned to certainty.

With the news on Thursday morning that stablemate Roaring Lion would be taking on the shorter Queen Elizabeth II Stakes 35 minutes earlier, the last bits of odds-against for Cracksman dried up.
