O'Meara believes rain can allow Lord Glitters to rule - and Laurens owner agrees

Roaring Lion now favourite as markets believe Gosden will go for mile option

David O'Meara believes Queen Elizabeth II Stakes market mover Lord Glitters will have his ideal conditions at Ascot on Saturday as the gelding seeks successive victories on British Champions Day.

And, despite holding a 5-0 advantage in Group 1 successes, John Dance believes his all conquering filly Laurens – supplemented on Monday at a cost of £70,000 – has plenty to fear from O'Meara's gallant grey, who has overtaken her in several lists and is a general 5-1 chance.

In what has been a volatile market throughout the week both were eclipsed on Wednesday by new favourite Roaring Lion who, if punters and bookmakers are to be believed, will be heading for the mile test of the QEII rather than the QIPCO Champion Stakes over ten furlongs, though John Gosden and Qatar Racing are due to make a final decision on Thursday morning ahead of final declarations.
