Flag Of Honour heads for Long Distance Cup although ground won't be ideal
Trainer Aidan O'Brien is not unduly worried his Irish St Leger winner Flag Of Honour will not have his optimum conditions at Ascot on Saturday when he lines up for the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup, for which he is a top-priced 9-4 second favourite.
O'Brien, who is looking forward to stepping the three-year-old up to 2m for the first time, said on Wednesday : "We've been happy with Flag Of Honour since his last run. Soft or heavy ground won't be ideal for him but he's been Group-placed on heavy and won his maiden and a Group 3 on yielding."
O'Brien will be seeking a third win in the Group 2 Ascot event following the successes of Fame And Glory and Order Of St George.
