Bookmakers quaking over John Gosden's 'four horses of the apocalypse'

It is the stuff of a racing marketing person's dreams: trainer John Gosden bearing down on Qipco British Champions Day with the box office horse in four of the five Group races.

Add in the fact that three of his headline stars – in chronological order Stradivarius, Lah Ti Dar and Cracksman – will have racing's biggest name Frankie Dettori aboard, and the card looks set to ease out of the shadow that Frankel has cast since the first two editions in 2011 and 2012.

For bookmakers the equation is different: Dettori and Gosden are good for business in the abstract, but the threat of thousands of multiples rolling up on the four shorties presents the layers with the potential to rack up enormous liabilities.
