'Back where I belong!' - PJ McDonald delighted to be fit for Laurens QEII bid
PJ McDonald was given the all-clear to resume his partnership with Laurens on Monday, just as the filly who provided motivation to speed his recovery was added to the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
The jockey, who has been sidelined since early September with fractures to a heel and an ankle, revealed he has already ridden the five-time Group 1 winner in a pre-Ascot workout. And he can't wait to get back on board in Saturday's mile championship, for which his mount was supplemented at a cost of £70,000.
McDonald returns to race-riding on Wednesday at Newcastle, the course where he suffered his injury in a freak paddock accident, in readiness for his date with Laurens, on whom Danny Tudhopestepped in for victories at Leopardstown and Newmarket.
