No regrets after Roaring Lion is 'sandblasted' in the Classic

Churchill Downs and its dirt track may have tamed Roaring Lion but there were no regrets from connections over the decision to bring the curtain down on his glittering career in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

After seeing Roaring Lion on Sunday following his tailed-off last-placed finish in the meeting's climax the day before, David Redvers, racing manager to owners Qatar Racing, said: "He didn't have a great experience but couldn't have looked any better this morning.

"You can't put his run down to coming at the end of a long hard season. It was so alien to him running on the dirt and with his draw, which meant he was in a lot of trouble long before the race started.
