Although lacking the fireworks of her Coronation Stakes return, Inspiral at least got back on track in winning the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville yesterday, holding off the challenges of two improving colts in Light Infantry and Erevann to record a Racing Post Rating of 118+.
With main rivals Coroebus and State Of Rest clearly below form, Inspiral didn't have to match her Royal Ascot form (123), running to a level just below the usual standard of a Jacques le Marois winner after taking her sex allowance into account.
She retains her position alongside impressive Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Homeless Songs as the leading three-year-old filly and a clash between the pair would be something to savour. With their sex allowance, the pair rate more than a match for the colts at a mile, with the exception of Baaeed.
