When Alpinista won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe to near universal approval last month, the volume of appreciative noise was boosted another few decibels by a fresh voice.

Where once Grant Harris might have been a diplomatic neutral, now he was fully invested in the mission of Kirsten Rausing, her Lanwades Stud and the wonderful grey mare.

"I'm Team Lanwades through and through now," smiles the man who recently left the helm of the British Racing School in Newmarket to take over management of Rausing's private philanthropic entity, the Alborada Trust.
