Oisin Murphy: 'I didn't really feel like I deserved to feel as bad as I did'

As if interviewing Oisin Murphy while he is quarantining for ten days in a Holiday Inn near Heathrow Airport was not already a sign of the times, he arrives late to our Zoom call after completing a Covid test.

The two-time champion jockey, who is lodging two metres across the hall from his weighing-room colleague Jim Crowley, appears in good spirits despite his captivity and an eventful return trip from Dubai.

"I can't open the window but at least there are blue skies – you could be anywhere in the world," jokes Murphy, before revealing what he describes as a questionable lockdown haircut from under his cap.
