'The problem's obvious but no-one gives a s*** about owners, trainers, jockeys'

Sam Hendry talks to the veteran rider now back home after a stint in Hong Kong

This week marks a year since Neil Callan returned to Britain from his highly successful odyssey in East Asia.

A decade-long spell in Hong Kong provided the rider and his family with a lifestyle and riches far beyond what would have been possible had he stayed in situ.

Now the multiple Group 1-winning jockey has gone from riding two days a week for prize-money that far outweighs almost anything on offer in Britain to plugging around seven days a week looking for rides up and down the country. But as we sit on the steps outside Windsor's weighing room, it is clear Callan would rather be nowhere else.
