'I was on a mission to enjoy life - and enjoy it to the max'
Catherine Macrae talks to a trainer growing in stature all the time
Chris Gordon strides across the frost-covered yard like a man on a mission. Fresh from riding out and with his customary flat cap pulled over his head, he bursts into the office and brings a draft of cold air with him.
"Oh," he says. "I forgot you were coming."
An inauspicious start. It turns out Gordon's purposeful march was not to greet an expected Racing Post writer but to check the latest going descriptions as the next wave of abandonments filter through online. Frost blankets the yard and the plummeting temperatures have frozen the water at Morestead Stables. Cups of tea are in short supply.
