'Dad reminds me how good he was to win the National - I hope it'll come for me!'

There was always a fair chance Brendan Powell would blossom into one of Britain's best jockeys. It's in his blood after all.

The 27-year-old can rarely escape a conversation – this one included – without his father, Grand National-winning jockey Brendan snr, cropping up.

"He can put me in my place by telling me he's won a Grand National, but I'll return with, 'I have more Cheltenham Festival winners!'" Powell jokes. "It's a bit of rivalry banter, but I've got big boots to fill."
