Fun between the flags: behind the scenes at a point-to-point party

It was the Friday evening before Christmas, and the old hunter, standing in the lee of the wall with his hind leg tilted, was now dusted in snow.
"Do you think the guests will reach us if it gets much deeper?" asked Mrs Pib, while placing logs on the fire. From the kitchen, where he was putting down his rolling pin and wiping his hands on his apron, Mr Pib replied: "I'll ring Jack Barber and Asktheweatherman, and then I'll call Dean Summersby to see if we've Chosen Lucky. Bryony Frost might have a view. If the snow is deep at least Ed Walker will get here, and we can suggest the Wadlands bring their Golden Tobouggan."
The Pigs In Blankets – but known to all as The Pibs – staged an annual Christmas party fundraiser for the Brimstone Hunt point-to-point. Sitting down to clean her gun ahead of the Boxing Day shoot, Mrs Pib asked: "Who else have you invited?"
