Don't Stop Me Now - I've just ridden a winner!
Adam Wedge, rider of Buywise in Saturday's Grand National, turns pop-picker
We continue our series of jockeys selecting their favourite records for all occasions . . .
When I'm getting psyched for a race I listen to . . . Till I Collapse, by Eminem
This would get anyone psyched up. I put this on and it really gets me going, with lyrics such as 'Until the roof comes off / Till my legs give out / I will not fall, I will stand tall / Feels like no-one can beat me'. I'm getting a bit psyched up just telling you about it, actually.
When I'm celebrating a winner I listen to . . . Don't Stop Me Now, by Queen
This is a real feelgood song and always hits the spot when I'm on a high. 'Don't stop me now, I'm having such a good time, I'm having a ball'. Says it all, really.
When I'm annoyed about a loser I listen to . . . Weightless, by All Time Low
So I've ridden a loser, not too happy about it. Some of the lyrics really help, help me realise that it's only one race and there'll be other races, help me move on and put things behind me. 'Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year'.
When I'm stuck in traffic I listen to . . . Back In Black, by AC/DC
How long am I going to be stuck in traffic for? If it's half an hour, then I'd stick on a playlist full of rock standards and classics. If it's just five minutes, then Back In Black is going on. What a great song this is.
When I'm relaxing at home I listen to . . . Under The Bridge, by Red Hot Chili Peppers
There are quite a few songs I could choose for this category, but this one always fits the bill. It puts me in a mellow mood. I sit back, put my feet up and look forward to the next time I can stick on Don't Stop Me Now!
